2. Question 2 – Reflective Response

One of my favorite parts of this course was designing the final book and seeing how individual images could work together to create a narrative across multiple pages. I especially enjoyed experimenting with layouts, spreads, and how images interacted with the gutter and centerfold, which helped me think more intentionally about composition and pacing.

Some parts of the process surprised me—particularly how small adjustments in scale, spacing, or direction could dramatically change the meaning or mood of a spread. When I felt stuck, I found that making quick thumbnail sketches or stepping away briefly helped me return with a fresh perspective.

Through this course, I discovered strengths I hadn’t fully recognized before, especially in experimenting with materials and pushing myself to try unfamiliar techniques. I also realized that being willing to improvise and accept unexpected outcomes often led to the most interesting and satisfying results.
